I have been following Reel Big Fish‘s career since 1996 and can honestly say, whereas many of my favorite bands have released at least one record I haven’t been fond of, this is not the case for Reel Big Fish. Even their ‘Skacoustic’ record (2011),  featuring many of my favorite Reel Big Fish songs stripped down, was extremely enjoyable and still in constant rotation on my playlist.

It’s been 22 years since I fell in love with RBF, and their new record ‘Life Sucks … Let’s Dance!’ is exactly the record I was hoping for. The first half of the record moves at a faster place, blending elements rock, punk, and ska perfectly. The second half has more of a reggae feel, as if the raging party from the first half of the album is finally winding down. The record ends with an instrumental that is just as good as their previously instrumentals ‘Don’t Stop Skankin’ and ‘241’ from past records.

‘Life Sucks … Let’s Dance!’ is full of catchy choruses, perfect harmonies, relatable lyrics, and left me wanting more, even with the generous helping of 14 songs! By @DJRossstar
