When New York City’s Twin Towers were attacked by al-Qaeda on September 11, 2001, students had just started their day at Stuyvesant, a specialized high school – considered the most prestigious and selective public school in New York City – located just blocks away from the World Trade Center. In the Shadow of the Towers: Stuyvesant High on 9/11 revisits the attack through the eyes of eight Millennial adults who were 13 to 15 years old at the time and who witnessed it from their classrooms, offering a unique perspective on the life-altering tragedy. In the Shadow of the Towers: Stuyvesant High on 9/11 weaves footage of the attack with compelling commentary from student eyewitnesses who tell the story of what it felt like to be a young person at Ground Zero.

In the Shadow of the Towers: Stuyvesant High on 9/11 was directed and produced by Schatz. Katy Garfield (Song of Parkland) and Sascha Weiss (Warning: This Drug May Kill You) were co-producers. Sara Rodriguez (Wig) was supervising producer. Nancy Abraham (Axios) and Lisa Heller (Leaving Neverland) were executive producers.

What Happened on September 11 is a look at the events of September 11 that provides a sensitive yet informative account of a dark moment in history.  The documentary short follows a group of students from Secaucus Middle School on a class trip to Lower Manhattan, where they visit the 9/11 Memorial Plaza and 9/11 Tribute Museum. There, they hear first-hand accounts of the tragic day. Through archival photos and footage, the film explains the significance of the World Trade Center towers and provides an overview of the rise of Al-Qaeda and prior attacks led by Osama Bin Laden. The documentary film also touches on the other tragedies of 9/11, including the third plane that was flown into the Pentagon and the fourth plane that crashed in a Pennsylvania field after brave passengers onboard fought to take back control of the aircraft. The film also teaches students about the aftermath and clean-up efforts.
