Bionic Buzz® got to interview RiRi & LuLa from FEMM. They are a mannequin rap duo from New Tokyo.
As mannequins, what is your earliest memory.
RiRi: Standing in clothing store’s window. We were just a fashion mannequin.
LuLa: We were people watching from the window.
When did you first hear music?
RiRi: I think music was always there. In the store, in the town. Just like air.
LuLa: The first time I really remember is after we came alive at FEMM’s Agency Syndicate and started to walk around in the city.
Are there other mannequins like you in the world that can rap but chose not to?
RiRi: Yes!! So many mannequins are capable!! As being leaders of mannequins, it’s part of our job to recruit new talent.
LuLa: Just like human, all mannequins are different what they can do.
You just released ‘Level Up feat. Duke of Harajuku’ What is the song about?
RiRi: It’s up to the listeners to decide what the song is about, but for us it’s about becoming FEMM 2.0. We are updated and now ready to roll!!
LuLa: It can be about anything that the listeners feel. It would be awesome if our fans can relate to the song in their own way.
You will be releasing an EP ‘404 Not Found’ on November 20th. Interesting title, is there a personally experience from the title? What is the theme of the EP?
RiRi: We are excited for our EP to be coming out!! You see ‘404 Not Found’ on websites that don’t exist. Since we were looking for our own original sound for a long time, and now we finally found it. It kinda means “this sound you can’t find on the web or anywhere” So we thought this title was perfect.
LuLa: The sound is very dark and edgy, but has a really strong message as a woman. We hope you enjoy this new sound!
What are your world plans for 2021?
LuLa: Nothing is decided yet, but we want to meet all of our agents overseas! Hopefully we can release a new album too…!
RiRi: Since we have our new sounds, we are so excited to perform them. Hopefully the pandemic world becomes a safer place and we can meet our fans all over the world…!!!
