Bionic Buzz® got to cover the red carpet of The Alliance for Children’s Rights 28th Annual Dinner. Yesterday The Alliance for Children’s Rights hosted its signature annual fundraising dinner at The Beverly Hilton and raised over $1.6 million in support of the rights of children in foster care. President of ABC Entertainment Karey Burke was honored with the Champion for Children Award and recognized for her longstanding support of the Alliance’s mission through philanthropic leadership and advocacy.

The organization also recognized Board of Directors member and long-time advocate Susan Saltz with the Francis M. Wheat Community Service Award.

“As an advocate for children and their soon-to-be-families, the Alliance is having a significant and meaningful impact on our society,” said Burke. “To be honored by this organization I support and love with all my heart is nothing short of humbling, and I hope we inspire people to get involved because the results are absolutely life-changing.”

The evening was hosted by comedian, actor, writer, and star of ABC’s Black-ish Anthony Anderson and featured inspiring client stories, award presentations, a blanket auction to raise funds to support adoptions out of foster care, and a special performance by Grammy and Academy Award-winning artist John Legend.

“We were thrilled to honor two individuals who inspire us with their steadfast commitment to our cause,” said Jennifer L. Braun, President and CEO of the Alliance for Children’s Rights. “It is because of supporters like Karey Burke and Susan Saltz that the Alliance and the young people we serve are able to thrive. We enjoyed celebrating these honorees and the many achievements they make possible here at the Alliance.”

Legend performed two songs on the piano – Simon & Garfunkel’s classic “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” and his #1 hit “All of Me.” Said Legend, “I was thrilled to perform at such an important event honoring the incredible Karey Burke who works so tirelessly to support the crucial work of The Alliance for Children’s Rights. It was an honor to be a part of an evening to help these youths in their future development, happiness and success.”
